Wireless Mouse Issue -- does not work

I have a wireless mouse with a wired receiver hooked into the port with a USB to Ps2 adapter... I have had no problems until recently when the mouse was showing low battery...I installed the correct batteries and it still blinks red/low battery and the pointer on the screen stays on the middle of the screen after startup... I bought a new adapter, same thing, I bought a new wireless mouse with plug in receiver, nothing....
I have yet to try a corded mouse....

This is a long shot but try plugging the receiver into a USB port instead of the PS/2 to USB adapter. I've had devices that would work with such an adapter and even more that wouldn't.

Thank you Lady F... I found an old mouse with PS2 plug and it worked... I guess my system isn't recognizing wireless anymore... I had bought a new wireless mouse with plug in receiver and it too did not work.

hmmm, theoretically the computer just sees a USB mouse, the whole wireless communication part is handled by the usb dongle and the mouse.

Do you have other USB devices? Do they work fine? Where did you plug them (front or back ports)?

bob, I don't use any USB ports for anything... I only tried all 6 with the new wireless receiver plug in...
