Wait a second, what is the size of that drive, how much GB of capacity are already used?we tried paging file off, defragmentation, hibernate off, disk clean etc but we could get just 5GBs more.C drive has 284GB now we planned to parttion by 84 GB in C and rest of the GBs for new drive.
If the drive contains files that you want to move to the new partition, you need to transfer them to an external drive first, or do the procedure below multiple times, after each time you transfer files from C to D to free space on C, then you shrink C and increase D.
The program is easy to use and does not need a CD or flash to do its job, and from that link, you can see the feature list. I advise to try it on your own machine to see for yourself (just don't ever click "Apply"), and if you don't think your sister can do it, ask her if she has a moderately tech-savyy friend that can do this.
Download and install it from the link I provided. Open the program, select "Go to Main screen".
Now, if you want to make two partitions you need first to shrink disk C, so follow this tutorial (they do it with disk D, you do it with disk C) and in step 4 make sure the first entry, the "unallocated space before" is set at 0 (so that the space for the new partition will be created after C and not before C, it's better but not critical). Don't do step 5 yet as we have another thing to do.
Now that you have some amount of unallocated space, create a new partition with this tutorial.
When you finally click on "Apply", it will pop up a window saying that it needs to reboot to perform what you asked. It is normal, click yes/ok if you are ready.
It will reboot (turn off and then turn on again) the computer, but instead of showing Windows 7 logo you will see a black screen with a window like this in the middle.
It will give you 10 seconds or so to abort the operation by pressing any key, if you leave it alone it will begin doing its job (if you want it to work, don't press any key).
Depending on how full and big was that drive, it will need from 30 mins to an hour or more. Don't turn it off, and don't do anything with the PC while this is running.
After it has finished, it will shutdown.
The next time you turn it on the same screen will appear saying "all operations executed sucessfully", then it will reboot itself one more time and you will finally see windows 7 logo again and it's back normal.
It should not do any harm, if done correctly and the computer isn't turned off while the program is running. As per experts we should not do partition the C drive which has unmovable files when windows is running however if i do with EaseUS partition it will affect the system?
Remote does not work when you are on the bootable CD or flash program. But you could solve the problem with Disk Management. That is a bit more complex, but can be done. You would need an external disk for that and we would need a picture of the Disk Management in your sister's machine to give you detailed guidance.
@ bobafetthotmail:Thanks a lot expert! Now i am clear,The size of hard drive is 384 GB we already partitioned D drive as 100 GB,we can not proceed further because of unmovable files in C drive.C drive has only 50-60 GB full remaining are free.We will try as per your Instruction. Thanks for Knowledge Sharing.
@WHS:Thanks a lot for your help.
@All:Thanks i will close this thread once we get
Cheers!
