    won't get past first post

My computer has been getting stuck when it starts up on the black screen with the "_" in the top left, this started when I changed the graphics options in BIOS to switchable graphics mode, I have opened my laptop and removed the small round battery for 30 secs and then turned it on for it to just restart 3 times then return to the black screen, any help?

Don't understand you. Did it restart 3 times so booted succesfully?
    What is "switchable graphics mode"?

You removed the battery so bios settings are default now. Hope defaults work on computer... most of the time it does.

You get a black screen with text cursor on top left... is it blinking? Does it appear before bios, so you cant even change bios settings?

By restart 3 times I mean it turn on, then off three times in about 5 seconds with out the screen even turning on, and the line does not blink and it does it before BIOS

So it powered on/off three times in a row fully automatically whitout anything on screen. Then it only put a non blinking text cursor in top left of screen. It stays there forever.

How do you know it did power off/on .. you don't see anything on screen!! Did it beep all the time?

Morzie has this machine ever booted properly? If it has have you got any data on the drive cos one option would be to do a factory default.

If you haven't got much to lose then you could try that - on power up tap the F10 key it will go to the factory recovery partition. If a straight F10 does not do that try Alt+F10. But that depends on the amount you have already done on it mate.
