ASUS 1015CX-BLK024W netbook screen resolution problem

    Hi All,

I have an ASUS 1015CX-BLK024W netbook running Win 7 Home Premium. I want to increase the screen resolution but when I go to the Control Panel to adjust it, the maximum available to me is 800x600. If I read them correctly, the specs say it can go up to 1024x600. I updated the graphic driver but the resolution is still limited to 800x600.

Any way to fix this? Do I need to change something in the registry?

I searched on Google and in this forum and didn't find any relevant links. I also tried to join the Asus Support Forum, but their registration system isn't working.

    Thanks,

    Advait

    Try doing it this way.
Right click on desktop and go to screen resolution. Select what you can and ok your way out
Then right click on your desktop again and select Refresh.

Have you scanned your computer for infections? If so what programs did you use?

    ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support-

Have you ran this? Its a link to their diagnostics center. You don't need to register for most of the help and diagnostics.

Having said that, Asus really bites when it comes to support. Trust me I know. However there IS a lot of good people in the forums there. I AM registered in their R.O.G. forums and have recieved much information. Mainly from others like me ...... most of the moderators/admin. are just shills for corporate. With a few exceptions of course.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, this is the first thing we tried. It only displays 800x600 as the only choice (no other choices in the drop down menu). I looked all thru the Device Properties screens. Nothing I saw indicates any higher resolution.

Good question. Full scan done with up-to-date Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 and pre-boot scan done with Windows Defender Offline. No infections found.

I'll try IndianCarnie's link and see if that gives more info. I'll report back the results. Thanks! Kind Regards,

Have you ever had a better resolution on this computer? If so try a restore point.

    screen resolution problem solved

    Hi,

I got it solved by downloading and installing the latest full video driver (17mb) from the Asus website. Apparently just hitting the "Update Driver" button does not get the full version. Now I can set the resolution to 1024x600. Perfect! Thanks for your replies. Cheers,
