    Autoplay....quit

After installing a new front panel card reader/USB 2.0 and 3.0 and audio panel, I do not get the auto play window pop up asking me what to do. In Autoplay options I have it set thus, and it never shows connected devices.

    See if this helps, Gary.

Open an elevated command prompt. Type net start shellhwdetection > Enter.

Or, from the Services console, locate Shell Hardware Detection and make sure that the Startup type is set to “Automatic” and the Service status is “Started”.

Thanks Lee but that didn't help, the service was on Auto and running.
Sfc /scannow found issues and this is the 4th run with a reboot after each of the first three.
    Code:
    Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601]

    C:\Windows\System32>sfc /scannow
Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.
Beginning verification phase of system scan.
    Verification 100% complete.
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of th
    em.
Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example
    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log
The system file repair changes will take effect after the next reboot.
    C:\Windows\System32>net start shellhwdetection
The requested service has already been started.
I should add I installed a driver for this reader panel and it was Realtek USB driver. If I remember the auto play issues started after that, so I uninstalled it.

With a fresh install everything is working as it should again.
