dvd-blueray righter/hard drive dissappear from system

    dvd-blueray righter/hard drive dissappear from system


    my dvd / blueray writers dissappear from my system after the computer has been on for a while
    or i startup and try to burn a dvd/blueray...now here is a hint i recently removed the dvd and installed a Hot Swap drivebay..that hard drive dissappears when when the blue ray dissappears... thaey ar on the same sata chipset the mobo has 6 ea 6gb/s sata connectors and 2 3gb/s sata connectors..the blue ray and the hotswap bay are on the 3gb/s chipset...the mobo has the latest bios and it makes no differance what bios version is installed and when i reboot the computer they are back...
    here are the stats:

    mobo-gigabyte 990fxa-ud7 am3+
    16 gb ddr3 1600 mem
    amd fx-8150 8 core cpu
    ati 6950 video card 2 gb
    1200 watt p/s
    7 2tb hdd

    any help would be appreaciated as i am tired of makeing coasters

    sounds like a power issue. try removing one of them and see if the other keeps disappearing.

    Also, could you please explain why you wrote "windows 7 beta" as your OS?

    that was a long time ago and i have not had a chance to change it and new1200 watt p/s
    new dvd and blue ray new hdd its not a power issue unless its a deep power management issue and it
    happens on multiple computers mutiple os's xp w7 w8... it happens every time i use dvd/blueray writeing software the drives return after i reboot and you can read any cd/dvd and run installes from them but not write if you do windows goes " DING " and they are gone...reboot they are back... every once in a while i can get away with making a dvd...its like there is a program monotoring the use of the dvd writer and if it detects the dvd writeing it shuts the dvd from the system resulting in coasters...it's driving me crazy...
