Pioneer BDC-207DBK won't play Blu Rays

I have a Pioneer BDC-207DBK BD-ROM drive and I cannot play Blu Rays. I have bought Roxio CinePlayer and downloaded a trial version of PowerDVD and neither of them will play the disc. Windows recognises the disc but when I double click it in My Computer, it doesnt play it and I can only view the files on the disc. How can I fix this? Thanks!

    1. Roxio Cineplayer BD with 3D is now defunct. So don't place much hopes on it to play any newer BDs.

    2. PowerDVD should. If it does not, download and install the 21 day trial version of AnyDVDHD (updated 20 Dec 2012).

With anyDVDHD running in the background, try to play your BD on PowerDVD. Does it play?

The fact is the software players need continual updates (patches) to deal with the newer protection algorithms that comes in the BDs. If your trial version of PowerDVD did not have the required patch, it will not play that BD.

Then you have a serious problem with your Pioneer drive. I would advise that you return it to the vendor and get it replaced.

( If you want to make sure, you can try to play any non-copy protected BDs like Beautiful Places, Planet Earth etc., ( confirm that these are non-copy protected). If your Pioneer drive and Roxio/Cyberlink don't play - confirmed. Your drive is defective.)

You can also try any home-made BD.

I will try a non copyright protected disc and if not, i will send it back after Christmas. Thanks a lot for your help.

I recently bought the exact same drive too and neither of the above programmes would play it. However I found that TotalMedia Theatre 5 works just fine :)
