Transitioning from HDD to SSD + HDD Advice
Hi I would like some advice on my topic.
Currently I have a Western Digital Caviar Black 7200 rpm 500 GB HDD as my only drive, running Windows 7 pretty fine.
But now I would like to use an SSD, namely the Samsung 840 Series 120 GB drive as a boot drive with some programs, and keep the HDD as storage.
Samsung offers their Data Migration Tool, and supposedly I would use that to move all the data from the HDD (after freeing space of course) to the SSD, and then use command prompt + clean to format the HDD, and partitioning it, so then I have the SSD as boot and HDD as storage. Also I would enable trim, disable hibernation, etc.
My question is will samsung's tool be able to transfer windows 7 so that it will run on the SSD as it would on the HDD. Would it be like a fresh install of windows on the SSD (assuming I had deleted anything but windows on the HDD).
If any more information is needed I would gladly supply it.
