Battery Drain

I have an HP HDX18t with Vista 64-bit and Windows 7 64-Bit as dual boot. Starting yesterday, when I boot into Windows 7, I get a message from my battery indicator reading, "Fullu Charged" Consider replacing battery. The icon has a red xo where the batter is. When I unplug the laptop, the battery drains to empty within 5 minutes. This doesnt happen when I boot into Vista. I've had Windows 7 Buld 7100 since the release date and have had no problem. Can anyone offer any advice, as most of my programs are under the Windows 7 OS.

Thanks

Your battery is dieing. How long has it been since you replaced the battery? Usually when the battery drains almost to nothing in less then five minutes, it means its life is coming to an end and is no longer able to hold a charge.

I'm pretty sure its not the battery. When I boot under Vista its okay and when I switch batteries with my room mate who has the exact same computer with Vista, theres no problem with the battery, which is only 9 months old

If its not the battery then it is the drivers feeding Windows 7 bad information. I am assuming Vista doesn't show a prompt but does the battery hold a charge for extended periods under Vista? Cause really, Windows 7 could not drain a battery in five minutes unless, a) the battery is dieing, b) being feed incorrect data.

BTW, 9 months is getting close, would be lucky to get two years out of a lithion battery. Most kick the bucket in a year.

Laptop won't boot fully after battery drain
My parents were redoing my "office"/mancave, and they unplugged my laptop from the surge protector I was using, and plugged it into a different one, which apparently cut off the power going to my laptop. So my battery ran down to nothing, and my computer shut itself off. Now, I'm on a different...

How often should I do a power drain?
I just recently discovered power drains, and it even brought a headphone jack back to life. What I'm wondering is, should I do it regularly, or just when something starts to act up? Like Maguscreed said on my compressed gas question, I am a bit hesitant when it comes to my laptop, but only because...

Battery Drain while powered off ?
My new HP Dm3T laptop is great, except that when I turn it off at night, the next day I notice significant battery drain, just from being off overnight. For example, it was at 100 % charge this past friday night. Then on saturday around 1pm when I turned it on, it had about 91% charge. This was...

Huge battery drain on FZ38M
I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ38M with the default battery, a VGP-BPS8. On Vista 32bit I could get a couple of hours on the battery on power saver, but on Windows builds 7000 and 7100 64 bit I'm only getting a maximum of 40 minutes! When I mouse over the battery logo in the Notification Area it says I...
