A friend has HP 3052A wireless printer. One Desktop Computer (Specs Unknown), and One Laptop (Specs Unknown) Desktop Computer prints to the printer. Laptop does not. Both computers running Win 7. Both comuters are connected to his wireless router(Specs Unknown). How can I get both computers to print to the wireless printer. Sorry about the vagueness on all of the hardware specifications. ie Make and models of computers and wireless router.

    Still Learning, Learning Still.

I have an HP P1102w wireless Laser Printer. It shows up in devices and printers after a clean install but won't actually work until I install the drivers for it. It appears Windows 7 knows what it is but doesn't have the correct default drivers for it. Right click the icon for the one that doesn't work and see if you get a "set as default printer" option. If that option is missing you'll likely have to install the drivers for it to work.

While doing more research. I found the following instructions. Wondering if this is correct for Win 7 printer sharing for a home. Plese advise if this is correct.

Allowing Other PCs To Print From Your Already Set Up Printer
This could, quite possibly, be one of the easiest things to do that could make you seem like such a techie to all of your unknowing friends.

Step 1 - On the computer that you have the printer already hooked up to, right click on the printer that you want others to be able to print on (which you can find in Start/Settings/Printers and Faxes/Your Printer), and select Sharing… from the dropdown that appears.

Step 2 - This will bring you to the Sharing tab within the printer's properties menu (alternatively, you could have selected Properties from the right click dropdown and then selected the Sharing tab yourself). Within this tab you will see two options - Do not share this printer (which should currently be selected), and Share this printer (which is what you want to select now). When you click Share this printer, you will have the ability to create a shared name - the default is the current printer name. Once you have a name for your printer, click ok.

Step 3 - On the computer that is not hooked up to the printer, go into the printer menu (Start/Settings/Printers and Faxes) and click Add A Printer

Step 4 - Within the Add Printer Wizard, select the option A network printer, or a printer attached to another computer. Here you will have three options: Find a printer in the directory, Connect to this printer (or to browse for a printer, select this option and click Next):, and Connect to a printer on the Internet or on a home or office network. You want select Option 2.

Step 5 - You should see your printer on this list. If you don't, go back and make sure that you properly shared your printer in steps 1 and 2, and that your computer that you are currently using is actually connected to your home network. Double-click on your printer and print a test page - you should be able to use this printer now.

A wireless printer isn't connected to one specific PC so you don't have to share it as you posted above. What you posted is for when you have a printer connected to a PC via USB or a Parallel cable. If you do it that way you'll get a second instance of that printer and it will only work if the PC you shared it on is online. It will show up as HP 3052A (shared on .......) or something similar.

Try connecting the printer to the laptop via USB so that you get the drivers intalled on the laptop. And it shows up in devices & printers. Then disconnect the wired USB and try to do add network printer to see if it finds in on the wireless connection.

Run the driver/setup software on the PC that can't print from it. You'll get different options, one of which should be: "Connect to an already configured wireless printer". That may not be the exact wording but its close. Selecting that option installs the drivers, looks for the printer, and connects to the printer. That's the option I use after doing a clean install on one of my PC's. Originally, when I first took it out of the box and set it up for the first time, I connected it to a PC with the USB cable. Then I configured it for my wireless network and set the password etc. I know for me, after a clean install of Windows, the printer shows up without me having to do anything. It won't print anything though until after I manually install the drivers on that PC.
