Did you create the two partitions originally ?

Or did this show up after the install ?
I've had this partition for years now. It was one of my own doing.
Years with an empty partition I fill them up fast just downloading all the great wallpaper here on sevenforums
Haha it was actually full. I just did a little housecleaning tonight. hehe

To be honest this one is over my head. First off I would have only had the drive I was installing windows 7 to plugged in and an optical drive or flash drive, however you installed 7. I know in xp thier is a way to reasine drive letters but I'm unsure about how in 7. But their are plenty of people smarter than I hear to help you with this.

Well, I think I must agree again with thefabe

If there is nothing important on D & E

I would reformat & do a new clean install from the DVD. External turned off !

& any other peripherial devices disconnected & unplugged.

Does this sound like workable idea at this point ?

Ok.. here's what I would do, and it might take a wee bit of time.. I would disconnect all but your main drive... hopefully its the one with the mbr on it... make sure that it is set to master.. insure that it is connected to the IDE cable in the master position ( the first one ) physically remove all other IDE cables from their respective drives, then reboot. This should force the system to recognize your drive as C.... if you succeed, begin the process of adding your hard drives back one at a time, ... let us know if this helps.... I could be too close to some Bozone ...

I don't really have anything to lose at this point. Here's the thing though, it won't let me reformat and install on boot up. Have you had this issue?

One other Question what is on the Maxtor 300gb that is not showing up ? Files, folders, programs, etc pics, music ?

Ok lets walk throught format on boot up from DVD >>>>

Bios set to boot from cd/DVD as first, HD as second, no others set to boot.

You might have to delete the 2 partitions first before you power off, for the DVD boot-up. Somewhere in the win7 install from DVD there is a format the HD in the lower righ or left hand corner of the screen. Just use this to do a new clean format for the new clean install of win7 Now I'm getting sleepy

Yes & only have the one master HD connected for the install. After stabilized, win7 should find the others as we connect them 1 at a time.

You might check if the jumper has to be set for master with no slave connected for this procedure
