external monitor won't work with laptop (works with other laptops tho)

Hi. . . I'm getting kinda frustrated. I hope I'm posting in the right forum.

Anyway, the external monitor: LG flatron L1943PE (it's really old )
The laptop in question: Samsung. Model--RV411

I don't think it's a problem with the monitor because when I connect it to my netbook, it detects automatically (when I turn on my netbook it uses the monitor). When I connect my Samsung laptop, it displays \

Analog
Power Saving Mode

When I disconnect it it simply says "Check Signal Cable"

I'm not sure what information is necessary, but I'd really appreciate any help.
