    Question about PCIe

    Hello everybody
I need to ask you one question, because I am confused about this PCIe slots.
As I know, the newest card have support for PCIe 3.0, and I went to search for some motherboards that would support it. And now there comes confusion: on Intel supported motherboards says that it has PCIe 3.0 slot, and on AMD supported motherboards don't mention anything about 3.0, even 400$ ones.
    But I saw this:
    1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode)
    1 x PCIe 2.0 x1
2 x PCI That says for AMD motherboard

What does that means. Does that support PCIe 3.0?
    (newbie on this obviously)

I would suspect no. It will say that it has PCIe 3.0 if it has it. I just got one for my parents a few months back.

    1x PCIe 2.0 x16 = there is once slot for a full x16 PCIe 2.0 port.

    1 x PCIe 2.0 x1 = a x1 slot port they're smaller :).

2 x PCI are just 2 PCI slots.

OK, but lets take a look at this:
    ASUS - Motherboards- ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z

    3 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (dual x16 or x16/x8/x8)
    1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode)
    2 x PCIe 2.0 x1 This is 400$ motherboard
Why would anyone make a 400$ motherboard without PCIe 3.0?

    because people are crazy :)

plus i cant say this 100% but i only see PCIe 3.0 slots on Intel boards.

Because nobody needs pcie 3.0 and you don't need to use 3.0 to charge 400 for a motherboard.

It may have been designed/manufactured before PCIe 3.0 was mainstream. Old stock.

so you say that PCIe 2.0 x16 will do just fine with AMD HD 7750?

You will see no difference whatsoever if you use it on a pcie3.0 supporting motherboard.
The technology is still not optimized that well to show a dramatic increase in performance.

All that I can see happening is that in multiple gpu configurations you will be able to use 3x pcie x16 slots without distributing the bandwidth.

    OK, thanks
I just want someone to confirm what you say, it's not that I don't believe you, it's that that I don't want to spend money unsecurely

Look it up on google, you will find answers faster with people who have benchmarked the performance difference between 2.0 and 3.0.

Unless you are planning on doing some serious multi gpu arrays, I see no point in forcing a move to 3.0 and spend extra money just for that. I will wait until it's been implemented as a default technology in motherboards, not while companies are ''inovating'' with it.
