Only one hard drive being recognized at a time.

I have two Western Digital My Passport 2 tb HD's, windows 7 recognizes both drives, but only one at a time. When I hook up both drive at the same time only one will show up in my computer, however Device Manager shows that I have two drives attached. I changed the drive name on one to differentiate it from the other, but still only one drive shows up.

How can I gets windows to recognize both drives at the same time.

Thank you for any help you can give.

"The disk is offline because it has a signature collision with another disk that is online"

To get the second disk online:

Plug-in both the external hard drives.

Right cick on (My) Computer > Manage > Storage > Disk Management

Scroll down so that you can see both the external drives.

One will be "online" while the other "offline"

Right-Click on "Offline" and click on "Online" in the menu

Wait for a few seconds and your second external drive will come online ready for use.
