Questions about SONY VAIO laptops from early 2000s?
My questions was asked above in a different forum.
1) Second one has a more modern processor (line was started in 2003 vs. 2001).
2) For processor upgrade you have to consider at least two things: socket and chipset. Likely, this two things will limit your choices to couple processors with pretty much the same capabilities. I won't go with this option, unless we are talking about installing 2 core processor instead 1 core, but this has to be confirmed with these particular models.
3) 1TB HDD might work, depending on how it is connected.
4) No, these laptops do not meet Win7 requirements in current configuration. By the way, you might lose activation by booting Win7 on a different hardware. Windows activation is closely tied with hardware.
5) First can have up to 512 MB of RAM max (but has 256 MB installed), and second about 2 gb max (but has 512 MB installed).
6) Both laptops equipped with DVD-ROMs. It is impossible to play Blu-ray discs in them.
Thank you. Could it play blu-ray movies if I connect a blu-ray player to it and play the CD from there?
Well, I was not able to find original hardware requirements, but according to this website both of these laptops are not ready for that task.
