ok,so i bought a new pen drive, when i plugged it in,there's a little sound that confirms something is inserted, then the drivers installed,it shows that the device is ready to use.but there is no autoplay option and when i open my computer, there's no pen drive connected shown.but my device manager is showing that a USB mass storage device is connected,i tried updating, uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, but still there is no autoplay or any other option to access the pen drive.

    Hi,

Run this file and restart the computer. See if it works.

Then I guess a Repair Install should work.
Also, many anti virus programs have the ability to block autorun.inf (autoplay file).
Try uninstalling your anti virus and see if that works.

Otherwise, Repair Install should fix the issue. If nothing works, then a Clean Install is the only way.

    Hi NasNastyNas,

Try this simple fix that had worked for many.

Shut down - real shut down and not Sleep - your laptop. Remove the AC power adaptor. Remove the battery pack. Your laptop is simply powerless now. :)

Press the power button for a few seconds. That should simply remove any residual charge in the laptop.

To be doubly sure, leave the lappy powerless for a few minutes.

Now reverse the process. Plug-in your battery pack. Plug in your AC adapter and power it.

Boot your lappy and then plug-in your pendrive.

    Is it recognised?

ok,that didn't help, but here's something that may help you in identifying the problem-
when i insert my pen drive into the USB port,i hear a small sound that confirms something is plugged in.

is there something wrong with the autoplay? may be i just clicked on any option or something like that?
    thanks.

Hey Nas I think you should go with what Dinesh said and reinstall and if you haven't got any media you have got the option of a factory default install.

If that doesn't work then maybe the original install was corrupted from the start. In that case yu might need to go to a clean install from a USB ISO stick
