SSD for Asus Laptop
I have an Asus g73jh laptop with 2 hdd's about 2.5 yrs old,
would like to replace 1 hdd with an SSD for obvious reasons.
I am looking at getting a Samsung 128GB 840 Pro
Any advice appreciated.

That's a good drive, so as long as you are okay with the size of 128 GB, then you'll enjoy the upgrade. I'm not sure what advice you are looking for, but the drive you picked is a good one.
I just got 2 of that exact drive for my laptop that will be shipped soon. Are you looking to replace both drives or just one drive?
Have heard nothing but good about that drive, but haven't used it. Just replaced one of my internals with a Crucial M4 and it all went smoothly. Remember to backup your intel chipset and wifi drivers. If you do a clean install as I did, you'll also have to go and get the ATK for your keyboard backlights. Its the first in the list on their site. They are all listed and I have to give Asus some props here, you can only download the ones you want and not the whole package.

I reckon I am ok with 128
the advice I am looking for would be do I need to update the bios or do anything other

Thanks, that is all in hand
Not knowing the size of your other HDD that will be in the system i have to tell you your looking at a good buy. As long as 128GB + w/e your other HD is enough room for your needs.
Another thing to mention is if your formatting both drives you could create a mount point partition on the HHD to point to a folder on the SSD and easily save large files inside that folder.
I should have said that my machine has 2x 500 gb hdd's
I would use the removed hdd for storage
I also have external storage otherwise, so no problems there.
Have a look at this tutorial User Folders - Change Default Location I just did this moved all user folder but the desktop to D drive to save space on the SSD.

I think you're in great shape getting that drive. Best of luck... also it has a 5 year warrenty + extra 3 months if you register it.
