    I do.

1st problem I see is the screw holes on the motherboard lining up in the case. But anythings possible.

    ...say what?

    You do what?

Edit : Oh I think I understand what you meant. You misunderstood me : I meant in China, near my home. We just got a bunch of Chinese dudes, and though some of them are pretty good, they're nowhere near good enough to do such creative designs.

The thing with the Chinese here is if they haven't been taught how to handle a situation then they'll be lost. They can't improvise much. These creations in the link I was given aren't anything these guys are going to be able to build for me.

First I'm gonna see if I can get my dad to just get me a new chassis and motherboard from Origin though. I'd like their current matte black system. I have one of the older models that have no backlit keyboard.

A laptop conversion, that is what you`re talking about, correct ? My daughter broke the hinges right off my HP. Although my end result looks a little different then the pic. I didn`t mind, I hate laptops.

    See the edit.

Yeah I hate them too honestly. Unfortunately when you have to haul a computer around from home to school/work all the time a desktop isn't possible.

I'll be happy when I'm well-situated in America and can just get a desktop. Screw the laptop shenannigans. They break so easily and are damn near impossible to fix.

If I wasn't so lucky as to live in the DIY capital of the world I would have been screwed ages ago. The Chinese have managed to keep my system together so far but they're finally coming to a loss because they need parts they simply don't have to fix my system.

It's because 17 inch laptops aren't common here, and my laptop is made by a manufacturer that doesn't exist here. If it was just a 15" Dell or something there'd be no issue because they're common as hell here and the DIY guys have tons of free parts cannibalized from them. There are buildings here with just boatloads of Dell, HP, Asus, Acer, Samsung, Apple, Sony, and Lenovo parts. It's all because my system had to be special.

If the motherboard is toast, you might be able to find another that supports laptop CPU/GPU cards.

Unless temps are high enough to ignite wood, I'd say start with prototyping the case in an easy to work with mateiral such as wood, then when you have the design nailed down you can start figuring out how to make it out of sheet metal or something.
