    here is the latest.. i did recover the drive last night...

    prior recovery, the drive gave no letter so i followed your first instructions on the previous page... then i assigned to letter G:...



    i didnt do anything yet after recovery... i was able to access all folders...

    since this is the 3rd time i recovered my external drive, id notice that on a specific folder, copying a file to this folder, or copying a file from this folder tends to make the drive being unresponsive....

    could this be a bad sector??

    (I am back after a good night's sleep and a clear vision - which of course deteriorates by evening and refuses to read anything. I am gonna reduce my exposure to the screen.)

    Those are corrupted files, Can't do a thing about it.

    Back up whatever you can, leaving aside the problem files/folders.

    Your drive in any case has failed.

    If it is under warranty, get a replacement or buy a new one, but not WD again.

    Most of the problems encountered on this forum as also elsewhere are with WDs.

    I would now close on this thread. To mark it as solved or not solved is upto you. :)
