Windows 7: Memory issues on a DZ77GA-70K

Memory issues on a DZ77GA-70K

I'm building my "new" system using an Intel DZ77GA-70K. In my previous system, I had Patriot Viper 3 memory (link below), in a 2x8 GB configuration. The board doesn't boot with both or just one of the memory chips installed. I get 3 short beeps, repeated once, then the system power cycles and does 2 more patterns of 3 beeps, and repeats over and over until I power off manually.

I put in a older stick of Patriot 2 GB stick in, and the system boots fine with that memory in any of the four slots. I was even able to update the BIOS to 0063, but the problems return when I try to install one or both of the Viper 3 sticks. I also tried clearing the CMOS, with no luck.

I'm out of ideas on what to try for now, and I did check that my Viper 3 memory is listed as compatible on Patriot's website.

I've tried posting on Intel's support forums, but I'm getting errors. They used to have a tech support e-mail address, but I don't see that anywhere, either.

All the specs match. They should work.
You have tested the slots with other RAM and they test good. So I guess the only explanation is that they are both bad sticks. Unusual for 2 sticks to be bad, but not unheard of.

The following page is the QVL for that Intel board. I don't see any Patriot Memory on that list. That doesn't mean they are not compatible, just not tested by Intel.

The note about SPD is important. But I can't imagine any new RAM not meeting that spec.

I'm able to put the Viper 3 sticks back into an older system and run memtest on them to say they are fine.
