    Help with new RAM purchase

    Hi Guys,

Im looking to upgrade my RAM to 1600Mhz.

    Im wanna get 8Gb again

    I've seen: Corsair 8Gb DDR3 1600MHz Vengence Memory

And also Crucial Ballistix 8Gb 1600MHz

My Budget is £40-50, and was just really after some opinions, or whether anybody as any alternatives which are possibly better?

Also just wondering if i can go to 1866MHz as i can get some which fits in my budget

    Crucial Ballistix 8Gb 1866MHz

Thanks for any help in advance :)

The only specs for RAM that you want to be careful to match are:

    • DDR3
    • 1.5v
    • Unbuffered
    • non-ECC

Although I must mention that you should not expect to see a real world noticeable increase in performance by jumping up from 1333 to 1600 (or even 1866). Running faster RAM can be important in overclocking in order to get a stable overclock.

Alternately, you could play with overclocking your current RAM to 1600 and save the money. Some 1333 sticks (but not all) can handle it.

I would check the MBoard manuf. QVL list...
    Qualified Vendor list.

I always do this for RAM lately as newer MBoards are getting finicky...

For not much more, this Corsair memory is just a bit better, timing wise. I have 16 gig of this in my rig,and it is pretty decent stuff.
