    Error 6008 Computer Freeze

    Hi there,

I have been seeking some help regarding this issue for some time now, but it's getting worse and worse and I have just no idea how to fix it. To be fair, the issue is deeply frustrating, mainly because there's no correlation in the freezes to be able to exclude it easily

The issue has started a month or two back. It all started from kind of like magenta lines on the monitor, which would freeze games and crash them. Later however, I received the message that the 307.XX driver of my NVIDIA GTX 560 card stopped working. It turned out I just had to use Driver Sweeper and install these drivers again. Problem long gone.

However, few days after that issue, my system froze. And it froze again... and again, until the point where it does it twice a day. Really, there's no correlation in the freezes. Once, it didn't freeze for 4 days, the other time it could crash up to three times a day, like today. Upon every startup after the freeze, the event viewer shows an Error 6008.

Like I said, the freezes have no pattern. The system freezes during browsing, playing games, watching films on YouTube, the sound just goes silent without any crackle and there's nothing you can do apart from pressing the power button on the PC. It's extremely frustrating.

I have previously had the system overclocked from 3.4GhZ to 4.5GhZ with temps at idle ranging 35-40 degrees, to 100% load max. at 65-70 deg, however after the issue occurred, I decided to return to the stock speed. I have the following setup:

    Intel i5-3570K CPU
    8GB RAM Corsair Vengeance 1600MhZ
    Gigabyte Z77-D3H motherboard
ASUS NVIDIA GTX 560 OC 850MhZ
    120GB Corsair SSD
1TB Western Digital Caviar Black Drive
    600W Corsair PSU
    Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate

I have then asked for advice at another forum, where they have told me to test the CPU with OCCT and use Memtest to test memory. All passed. I have also found advice to use Driver Verifier, but regardless it gives me a BSOD straight after boot, so I had to use safe mode to switch the Driver Verifier off. Hard drive SMART has been also checked with Crystal Disc Info, and came out positive.

I'm confused where to look for the fix :/

    Kind Regards

Well, Error 6008 just means unexpected shutdown, did you find anything else while going through event viewer? Also what is the temperature of your graphics card on average? Sometimes components will shut down to protect themselves from overheating damage, since your GPU is overclocked, it could be a factor, especially if you don't clean out the heatsink fins every now and then.

The issue doesn't give up :/ It constantly freezes, the new record is 4 times a day. It's beyond frustration now, and everyone's clueless as to fixing it.

I've reinstalled my OS, and my system hasn't been overclocked for 2 months now. In fact, I underclocked it to 3.0GhZ and freezes still occur.
