CD ROM Drive is not working, just changed it please help

    PC is in the middle of extended diagnostics test, I will let you know what BIOS says when its completed and I can return to F2

    What is the make and model number of the new optical drive you purchased?

    SATA 0 : ST3500413AS 500GB
    SATA 1: none

    The one I purchased is Samsung TS-L633 Optical DV Burner Samsung DVDRW 8X SATA TS-L633 (TSL633)

    I just did a google search on your optical drive and found a known issue with Windows 7. It seems the drive needs a firmware update to be recognized in some cases. Take a read on these, and see if that helps:

    I suggest going to the Samsung website, locating your drive model, and checking to see if there is a firmware update that you can put on a USB stick and run independently.

    When you get that "drive not found" message it usually means that the model number of the drive does not match the firmware version. That's where the A, B, C suffixes become important.

    It also could mean that the drive is incompatible, defective, is not receiving power, or is not connected to the SATA port correctly.
