Help with PSU

hi so im trying to buy a PSU that has to power a radeon 5770 ONLY! this is for my external eGPU build. the only requirements is that it has to be enough power to power the card, and it MUST have a 75w pcie 6pin connector for the GPU.

heres the card:

also how/ what wires would i have to connect to my PE4H adapter for this to work? the input for a PSU on the adapter says 12v CN8 5v and it has a 4 pin molex adapter.

Looks like it's intended for use with an ATX power supply.

I presume that the SWEX adapter does whatever is needed to turn on the PSU in the absence of a real motherboard load. The adapter also comes with an adapter to take a Molex (the sort used for an IDE drive) to a floppy style connector, if your PSU doesn't have one of those.

I see that the adapter is limited to PCI-E X1 bandwidth. Is that adequate for a 5770?

what connector on the PSU should i hook up to the Adapter? like i belive that theres different volts/amps between the 4pin connectors?

The Dynex power supply has a floppy disk power connector, so use that.

ok thank you! also does it matter what 6pin i connect? also which one is the floppy disk one? lol sorry im a noob when it comes to this. i havent messed with anything else other then laptops for a while

Try a Google or Bing image search on floppy power connector.

It's a 4 pin connector, smaller than the (usually) white Molex connectors used for IDE drives. It has 4 wires: 2 black, one yellow, one red.

For the graphics card, use any 6 pin PCI-E power connector.

Don't forget to use the adapter that plugs into the 24 pin ATX power. I believe that the PSU won't run without it. (An ATX PSU won't run without some of its outputs being loaded or jumpered; I don't recall which.)

Using a laptop as the core of a hobby system is very unusual. Good luck with it.

lol awesome thanks! lol yea i get that a lot, however, it does perform mind blowingly lol. with my 6670, i got a WEI score of 6.9 on the GPU. for the psu end, im probs just going to jumper the green and blacks with a paper clip and electrical tape. its going to be connected to the same power strip as the monitor, and whenever the monitor is on, the GPU will be on and vise versa otherwise it will just remain off.

with the 6770 im getting and the GDDR5 Ram and 800 stream processors, i think it will help tremendously compared to the 6670. for some reason, the 6670 would not play any of my DX 9 games no matter what graphical settings. but it played BFBC2 awesome on 1080 high/ medium settings.
