have to have new hard disk :((

Yesterday my laptop got worse. I called a tech friend and he came and look at the computer. After we turn off the button because it freezes it goes to the windows repair screen recommended which we did that. After that it shows do you want to report or not. We choice yes, but before that the friend tech click the advanced settings on the send to report and my user name came up and he hit ok.
After that the computer got worse. The text on the taskbar. desktop and other WINDOWS shows slanted like fonts. Also, my user picture appears on log on. Never had this problem after he done those changes. Does this mean from hard disk problem or what? For 2 months laptop seemed fine. Before that it started acting up. Now its getting worse. By worse I mean when I open my laptop it goes into "starting windows" after that it reaaaaaaaaaaallly slows down.
Here is a screenshot what windows texting looks like on ONLY WINDOWS. Not only there but desktop, taskbar and other windows on windows 7.

Couple of things you can try, Rose. First thing I'd do is run a full scan with your installed and updated anti-virus suite just to rule out any malware issues that might be contributing to the computer problems. You could also run a couple of free on-demand scanners because no anti-malware product is 100% effective 100% of the time.

    Malwarebytes

    ESET Online Scanner

    SuperAntispyware

After running the malware scan(s), try to restore your computer to a date/time before these problems started.

    System Restore

If this doesn't help it may have restored your computer enough to where you can check for damaged or corrupt system files by running a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two.) If problems are found, run the scan 3 times and immediately reboot the computer after each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

If still having issues you could go through the troubleshooting steps prepared by one of the Forum experts. He also provides links to hardware diagnostic tools.

I think it's also important to start backing up your hard drive now rather than waiting until later when it may be too late.

    You may have caught malware.

I suggest you enlist the help of a friends' pc and go to the Kaspersky site and download their offline rescue disc 10. Burn it to cd, then boot up with it on your machine. You must have an internet connection attached so the program can update itself. You also need to change your boot order in BIOS to have the cd/dvd drive listed first.
If you're not comfortable with that, there should be a "hot" key that is displayed during boot post that will offer boot options.

After the full scan, post back with the results. Please fill in your specs.

Edit: Sorry Mars, you beat me to it while I was typing.

The Hard drive issue will not cause the font style to change. I would do what both of the above post say first . When you you're done with the Virus scan I would recommend you back up all your files get a new hard drive and reinstall Windows.

My computer freezes and I get an HDD Smart error on startup all the time. Also, friend tech came to the house and told me a bad hard drive and he took out the hard drive and it was hot.
