about 2TB mbr disk to uefi machine and back

can I put xp mbr2TB hard disk in win7 uefi box and copy files off, take hd out and put back in XP box and work OK without disk being converted to GPT or getting the filesytem or partitions mangled?

I need the disk to still work in XP after booting windows. I don't know what's going to happen when I boot win7. I have heard of some problems with mounting XP disks, but I don't remember what they were or how to fix. need info.

Yes you can. My current system uses an UEFI boot drive and the other drives are all MBR.

I multi boot with XP and Windows 7 MBR boot drives as well in this system

found this should I get in a jam. forgot what else other info there was. "convert MBR" to convert GPT disk to MBR.
What's the benefit of UEFI and install Windows in UEFI mode?

I'm getting confused. I thought you wanted some files off the XP disk. Now it sounds like you want to install Windows 7 to the disk and have it boot into XP. If you just want to copy some files, no problem. Installing Windows and XP on the same disk can be done, but may cause you a lot of grief.

no, just wanted to get the files off. just wanted to make absolutely sure. I did some more checking to make sure before you answered, and I am satisfied that all will be well. thanks, guys. I was a little fuzzy in my memory.

They shouldn't be a problem. You can even take them off and save them to an external drive and use the external to move then to the windows 7 drive if you like.
