WD30EFRX (WD Red 3TB) as a desktop drive for backups?
Hello,
Can a WD30EFRX be used suitably in a non-NAS desktop environment? As a single drive.
It will not be used that often however it will remain connected to the PC at all times. I do not care about speed, I am strictly speaking about reliability.
I know the TLER will not allow data recovery past 7 seconds; how much of an issue is this exactly? I don't mind having to go through workarounds to recover corrupted data (i.e. modifying TLER settings) however will it be too late if the drive gives up on the error recovery?
As the WD30EZRX (WD Green 3TB) has just downright awful reviews, I have pruucahsed this EFRX as the drives are of a higher quality. Would love some opinions, I can still return, thanks.
