base to the max only, 5.1 system problem

I've got a logitech 5.1 system which for some time now plays with base to the max no matter where the hardware controls of the base are.

I'm not even sure if it's a hardware or software problem, but it's really annoying, any idea how to at least narrow down the possible problem source?

What's the interface from the PC to the audio system?

(The only sound device that you list if from the graphics card, which would usually be digital only: HDMI, maybe DisplayPort.)

Does your sound controller have bass settings?

there are 3 or 4 3.5mm jacks that go from the motherboard to the main body of the system which is also the subwoofer

i have some settings and sound effects for it under control panel> sound if i play with the equalizer there it seems to affect it.

Seems that it's just the hardware controll of the base that's connected to the subwoofer itself doesn't work anymore

If I understand things correctly, you're using the Realtek onboard audio, with analog connections to your sound system.

The bass control of your sound system isn't working.

Sounds like a repair/replacement of the sound system is in order. Or, live with it.
