I'm also having this problem but I have an AMD Processor and a ASUS M4A78-E motherboard. I wouldn't think I could install the Intel Matrix Storage driver to fix this, right?

Here's a link to my motherboard with it's specs from newegg.

I looked for something similar from AMD's support website but didn't find anything. I desperately need help because this is driving me insane. I go into my BIOS and see my blu-ray drive and then for the first few minutes it's visible to windows and then all of a sudden, it's gone. Not even appearing in Device Manager.

    Please help!

    Hi everybody,

I had the same problem with a Dell Latitude E4310. DVD drive disappears & re-appears.

    DVD Drive = TssTcorp DVD+-RW TS-U633J

    Tried the following:

    1) Clean install of Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
    2) Updated Firmware for DVD Drive
    3) Un-Installed CD/DVD Burning Software

Even after the clean install of Windows, Firmware update, and Software Un-install I still had the following problem:

CD/DVD Drive appears in Device Manager when Media is placed in drive before Cold booting.
CD/DVD Drive Does Not appear in Device Manager when No Media is placed in drive before Cold booting.

    SOLUTION:

Install the Intel Driver for Rapid Storage from Dell.

Look under the Dell Latitude E4310 Drivers for Windows Pro 64-bit. This replaces the Intel(R) Matrix Storage Manager.

    Download & Install this driver:
Dell - SATA Drives - Intel - Driver - Applies to: Rapid Storage Technology

    Dell Update Package: SATA_DRVR_WIN_R268416.EXE

You should probably get to the Dell Website to download the latest driver for your system.

    www.dell.com

    Hope this helps you.

    Cheers!
    Patrick
