I've read where a lot of people use them as a media server, but have never used one myself. I think they make 3 or 4 versions.

I've never used one, because my TV supports Plex Media Server which I can run from my computer.......but I do know that Roku boxes support Plex as well.

I have a Roku 3. What do you want to know in particular?

Offhand I can tell you it's a great little addition to any set-top box you might have. I have mine for personal use, but there's more than enough content to place it in the living room and use it to entertain guests. Some of the channels require subscriptions though, so be prepared to spend a few dollars.
