Touch pad for Toshiba Satellite L755 stopped working

The touch pad for my Toshiba Satellite L755 has completely stopped working and no driver is shown in device manager. I tried restoring setup to default and started in safe mode to see if the driver was recognized which it was not. Tried a couple of ALPS drivers which didn't work either. I am not sure if drivers are supposed to be ALPS or Synaptics. Can anyone help?

Check and make sure you didn't accidentally turn it off. Most laptops will have a function key to disable the touch pad. The manual should tell you how to turn it on or off. If turning it off removes power from it completely it may not show up in device manager when disabled.
