You're asking if that is the laptop's hard drive?

    It is.

    It's a 2.5", 9.5mm thick, 3Gb/s SATA drive. It's no longer listed at www.wdc.com, but see:

Western Digital Scorpio Blue WD5000BEVT 500GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Notebook Hard Drive -Bare Drive - Newegg.com

I'm not sure, but I think that laptop uses an adapter off of the standard SATA connector.

I hope that you have a way of re-installing the operating system on it, like recovery disks made when the laptop was working. If not, you're about to start a major learning process.

    Is this drive readable?
How do you propose to repair it? Try a test.
