Hmmm. That is a challenge, isn't it.
Does that box have a PS2 connection?
It does, I have the adaptors to hand, it is exactly the same.
That would rule out a USB problem. It's seems to be narrowing down to the motherboard.
You might want to double check everything you've already done.
Since I replaced the motherboard I'm very unsure about what the problem is. it could possibly be the power supply at uni that messes it up somehow, the problem first started and reappeared at university, although I'm not sure how it could cause this problem
I believe that some parts in your old mobo might be broken, causing keys aren't working in boot menu only (keys will work in bios and os).
