    Start up beep meaning


    Odd beep when logging in to Windows 7, 3 short low tones, couldn't find definition in manual, on Thinkpad W500, 64 bit, any suggestions, it doesn't always make this sound on startup; thanks

My computer as started to stay on grey screen and when i shut it down and start again it goes into repair mode then tells me it cant repair and is shutting down after shutdown i start again and it slowly comes back to life,i have also noticed no beep at start up,ive tried f8 but cant find safe...
