Yeah, I had some shortish extension cables fail miserably like that. I think it's the shielding, as thicker ones were better.

If still in the mood for experimentation, you can try tin-foiling them. Should theoretically work.

Advice wanted RE non TRIM SSD with Win 7
I have ordered what I think is a non TRIM supported SSD, 64G KingSpec CF IDE 50 pin that will fit into my Fujitsu P7230 which has Vista and I will upgrade to Win 7. I have a choice of 32bit or 64 bit as well. What do I need to do to keep peak performance for the SSD? Or should I send it back...
