Windows 7: Switching SATA Mode from RAID to AHCI

08 Mar 2014   #21

Win 7 Professional

So I tried it as I described and no BSOD's. One can switch from SATA ATA to SATA AHCI by first editing the msahci start value to 0 before changing the BIOS and booting. Switching back to ATA doesn't seem to require anything but changing the BIOS settings. At least that's how it worked for me. BTW, ahci mode doesn't seem to show a noticeable performance change.
