    Computer stays "running" after shutdown.

So this is what's happening, I just ordered a few case fans from Newegg. These are the fans I got, COUGAR CF-V12HP Vortex Hydro-Dynamic-Bearing (Fluid) 300,000 Hours 12CM Silent Cooling Fan with Pulse Width Modulation - Newegg.com

Now my problem is that when I shut down my PC everything seems to still be running, all fans are running, the LEDs on my one LED fan are still on, and my DVD drive bays still open and close. I can hear everything in the PC still moving like its fully on yet my monitor "goes to Sleep" and wont come back on until I reboot it. Which when I do reboot it shows the whole standard windows startup screens with the post screen and all.

I've never had this kind of problem before I installed the fans, normally if I shut it down everything would shut down, but it just seems like it don't want to. It does disconnected my other PCs from reading off the homegroup like its actually shut off.

I don't know why it's doing this, I have the two new fans plugged in through the connectors it came with that adapt it to get power from the PSU, don't know if that's the cause though. Just looking for some insight on how to make it actually shut off when I shut it down. Not having to go and hit the power switch on the PSU

yea, im literally going into the start menu and selecting "shut down". But just for the record even doing a hard shut down by holding the power button don't even work with shutting the fans off.

The only thing I can do to stop them is when I shut down I go and hit my power switch on the PSU.

Check the power options in your bios. Sounds like your pc is only going to sleep

I will try that, but it didnt even have that problem until i installed the 2 new fans.

they are connected the same way as 2 of my other fans that are connected to the PSU but never had this problem before. Will try the BIOS option and give an update

Ok, so I checked my BIOS and couldn't exactly find any power options on it. But I took out the 2 new fans I got and tried shutting it down and it STILL kept everything running! Like it don't matter if the fans are in or not it will still run either way! All my monitor says is "monitor is going to sleep"....I really don't know what to do, maybe a clean install of windows and drivers?

Is their a chance that my PSU is failing and it just keeps running itself for no reason? Although I would hope thats not the issue since I just bought this one and don't have another to find out if it is the issue

Well, I just unplugged my PSU and almost everything from my motherboard and removed it. Did a few "test" runs and everything shut off just fine. I don't know what the problem was but it seems to be ok now. will post if something happens again, but thanks everyone for the help

silmudah, that's good you have seemed to resolve it. Yes it could be a bad psu to cause that, but based on your replacing everything I do not think that's the case. Hope it continues to work for you. Good luck.

Thank you again for the help, i am always coming here for my windows needs lol. I guess for future reference if you get any more posts like this one tell them to try taking the PSU completely out and putting it back it.
