hi im running win 7 and trying to load photosuite 3 but once the setup is set going I get a really high resolution screen don't know how many pixels but boy are they big icions.i had fiddled around with compatibility mode the rest of the computer screen shots are all fine,once in the high res screen I have no where to go to fix or change the compatibility modes ,can I change this back before I put the photosuite disc in drive?i have had photosuite running but its decided to quit on me.help please graham

Have you restarted the computer yet? Remove the Photosuite DVD and then restart. Does the desktop come back in the correct resolution?

If not, right click on the desktop and choose "Screen Resolution". In the Resolution drop-down box pick your preferred resolution, or choose one of the "preferred" ones.
LOW resolution = larger icons and less stuff fits on the screen.
HIGH resolution = smaller icons and more stuff fits on the screen.

How old is this program? It sounds like the installer needs to change the resolution to a lower one than is currently set, and that resolution could not be supported by your PC or display - particularly if this is a laptop.

Yes ti comes back to normal on next start up,i cannot change any thing until I have restarted the computer.
I have right clicked on desktop but can not find Screen Resolution you talk about.
I changed or tried to change the computer to start in compatibility mode to accept this programme have had it running for some time but all of a sudden the program wont start, as if something has been deleted from windows (like active x or direct x )possible ? .
I have a program called asy easy as a computer cleaner perhaps tis might have destroyed something from windows I need.
perhaps I hit f11 and re install windows as it was, i keep 90 % of my files on a external hard drive.

Or you could perform a System Restore to a point before you started trying to install the program.
This won't help if you used a cleaner program that delete actual files though.

The Screen Resolution option is pretty standard in Windows 7. If you don't have it when you right click on an empty area of your desktop then you may not have the correct video driver installed for your graphics card/chip.

Photosuite 3 is a program developed for Windows XP. Have you tried installing the program in compatibility mode?

Here's how:

When you put the CD in and it starts automatically, just close the installation window.
Use Windows Explorer to look in the CD for files.
Find the Setup file (usually setup.exe), the file that starts the installation.
Right click on the Setup file
Click on Properties
Click on the Compatibility Tab
Select Windows XP for the mode
(Note that you could try and "Disable Desktop Composition" also.)
Click OK

Hi Mate when I do that the compatibly box is a light colour and I cant change it ,it stuck on windows 7 what next mate,thanks graham

Mmmm. It could be that the CD is considered 'offline' by Windows? The file may need to be on your hard disk.

To test this idea, create a folder on your hard drive (on the Desktop is OK), name it Photosuite, and then copy the contents of the CD into it.

Then see if you can set the compatibility mode on Setup.exe now that it is a file on the hard drive.

You can also try this: in Windows Explorer, on the File Menu, click Troubleshoot Compatibility, and then direct it to the Setup.exe file (that is now on your Desktop).

See if that helps.
