    Charing USB needed ... ?

    Hello,

    in simple terms,

my brothers pc, (Samsung all-in-one job) has USB ports on it, that allow you to charge devices, iPad's iPhone's whilst the pc is turned off?!
this must a thing of the norm to everyone else, but its something I would love to install on my pc !

obviously their is power running to the pc, I understand that, but still amazes me that it charges whilst the pc is in its 'off state' ...

so im guessing I need a usb pci card, but does anyone what type, sort etc ? any good makes out their that people have experience with ?

    many thanks in advance

    stuart

Amazon, Tiger Direct, New Egg, etc., will have pretty much what you are looking for regardless of the manufacture.

I bought a "Serial Technologies Expander USB 3.0 (four slot) card from "New Egg." The cost of $35.00 is a little higher than most, albeit the thinking was to put in a good one instead of cheap. It supports USB 3 and USB 2. The only real problem is the slots are at the rear of the Computer (not a deal breaker).

    Hope this helps. . .:)

Oh, one more thing, it needs to be able to hook up to a PCI-E 2 slot, and have an available power connection.

USB charge mode can sometimes only be set in the bios, so not all motherboards support it, I would check first that this can be done before purchasing additional cards
