chkdsk result analysis

Hi all,

I am having issues with 1 of my 2TB hard drive. So far i have migrated all data in it to another hard drive. I am often encountering hiccups/hangs whenever accessing that drive so i think there is a problem with it. I reformatted the drive and ran the disk error checking tool. It took hours to complete and i just saw this in the event viewer:

It says that there were bad clusters in my HD and windows did some corrections. I do not know what it did. Did it fix the problems found? Can I still use this hard drive?

Is that bad cluster number 34584 kb? If so, that is worrisome.

Download and install Acronis Drive Monitor (it's free). Run it and tell us the drive health percentage it determined. This is not destructive. It reports the "SMART" values.

You didn't fill in your specs, so I don't know what make hd is problematic. If it's not a WD, download and burn to cd the DOS Seatools iso. Run this as well (the long test), and tell us the findings.

it is a WD drive. I downloaded acronis and it says my HD health is 18% T_T

under the SMART tab there are 2 entries which are degraded.

current pending sector count raw:1446 value:196 threshold:0
uncorrectable sector count: 1418 196 0

Another of my WD 2TB HD shows that its health is 60% T_T

reallocated sector count 1 200 140 and has a status of FAIL
reallocation event count 1 199 0 degraded
current pending sector count 24 200 0 degraded
uncorrectable sector count 9 200 0 degraded

does it mean that those two are nearing its end and are unusable? Can they still be fixed?

If you have any warrantee value in either of them, RMA.

You can download the WD DOS bootable diagnostic iso and burn it cd and run its tests. But I'm afraid you will find no joy there.

ok so it appears that those WD 2TB models are really bad products..... darn it! I bought two of em.... My Blacks are still 100% though...
