We won't have to wait much longer to see if the predictions were right, Haswell was released today and is in stock at most etailers. I could order one today for Tuesday delivery, but I won't.
I don't know if we have gone off topic or not here really seeing as the OP want's to Overclock, I guess it's a good idea for him to get the full picture on both Ivy and Haswell.
Paul.
Cough, cough, guinea pig, cough, cough
I am not essentially wanting to overclock, all I'd care about is the performance of both CPUs when pushing them to their limits. Hope you'll undestand. :)
If you are going to be pushing them much past "mild", you will need a better CPU cooler.
All I can go by is the review I read so far.
Based on that, if you only wanted to overclock Ivy or Haswell to 4.2ghz then Haswell will be faster and won't be too hot. If you want to go much higher then right now Ivy looks like the better option.
The good news is you don't need to buy for a month, by then there will be numerous reviews, benchmarks and user reviews on forums etc to give the full picture of what Haswell is like to overclock with.
