Dvd rom not reading any discs

    hi gud morning!
i'm new here @ sevenforums and i would like to ask help from you guys.
my dvd rom is normally working but at some point, i recognized that it no longer read any discs.
i tried updating the driver but it says that i already have the latest driver for my dvd rom.i tried uninstalling the device, installing it again and rebooting my computer but nothing happened.
my dvd rom is recognized in the SETUP and in the MYCOMPUTER,but when i insert a disc, it says in when i double click DVD DRIVE that there is no disc in the drive.
i notice that if i click the open button of my dvd rom drive, the DVD power indicator is on for like 5 seconds then it is out.
    what could be the problem?
    please help..
my dvd rom is OPTIARC DVD RW AD-7585H
    thank u very much..

The laser lens may be dirty.
Obtain a cd/dvd drive lens cleaner. It will be a cd that you insert and run for 20-25 seconds.

Also, pop out the drive and clean the contacts inside and out with nail polish remover.

If that doesn't work then replace the drive they are reasonably cheap these days and easy to swap out depending on the machine model.

Out of interest just what is the exact model number?
