    How to troubleshoot hardware?

My computer sometimes (yes only sometimes) give strange noise, the noise is not constant and only lasts for a few seconds, but the noise doesn't sound usual. It doesn't happen very often, on average one time for a day, lasting for about 10 seconds. No particular operation is being done to the computer when such noise happens. I listen carefully to the computer but can't figure out where the noise is coming from.

The computer works fine now. Superficially everything is fine.

    Is it a problem?

There is no way to tell from that information. Could it be your hard drive making that noise?

Take off the side panel and listen to different parts inside through a paper towel roll tube. Empty one of course. :)

I used to do that when I worked on cars.....paper towel roll, or something similar. Worked well!

    I don't understand.
Kenny please let us know what you have tried and what you have found. Please don't start another thread with the same questions or problems.
Remember we can not see or hear your computer; we need your input.
