Random restarts/No display

Hello,

For the past 2 months my computer will randomly lose its display, and then restart. when it restarts, there is no display on my monitor. Ive tried switching hdmi cables, using different monitors, and the problem still persists. Sometimes when I click on firefox or explorer, my screen will go black for a few seconds, then comes back.

When it restarts, my computer looses all display. I have to constantly turn it off by holding the power button, then turn it back on about 5 or 6 times until it gets back up again.

I have a feeling that it is my gpu, but I don't know if it is a hardware or driver problem.

Based on 1 single dump you have attached and based on what you say... its a Bugcheck 116 (Video TDR failure) ... pointing towards the Nvidia drivers.

Before we try the solution please do the below

However... i would be nice if you Please use this tool to update your profile specs

And then use this tool to post all the files here

Then use Speedfan or CoreTemp or HwMonitor to post a snapshot of the temps

I updated my system specs in my profile and I've uploaded the files from the SF tool. I did not upload any temps, I'm not sure which ones you were looking for. Thanks again for the assistance.

I mean use any of the three program and take screenshot and post it here.

I just installed HWMonitor, and here are my temps.

Hmm the GPU temperature are bit on the higher side.. but also the fan speed at 40 % ...

So first thing to do is remove the Graphics card and use an aircan or a blower to blow the GPU fan's of dust.

Then when you put them back in make sure you Graphics card is seated properly on the motherboard and the screws hold them tightly to the cabinet.. make sure they are not loose.

Secondly go here to Nivida to update your display drivers to the latest.

Restart you system and let me know if the issue still persists.

Before posting on the forums, I did exactly what you recommended. I took out the graphics card, cleaned my whole computer with an aircan, and then I updated my drivers on nivida. Just last night my computer would not have a display again. I can hear my computer go to the log on screen because of the sound coming from my speakers, but no display. I had to turn my computer on and off about 5 times last night in order to get a display on my monitor again.

I had read that the new nivida drivers were causing the same problems for others, so I uninstalled the new drivers and installed a previous version, but the problem is still there.

Can you remove the graphics card (& drive your screen from the in-built video connector on the MB...) ?

If that works fine for a few days, then perhaps another card is needed?

Yes, I can get a display by using the graphics from my cpu. The thing is I don't want to buy a new card when it might be just a driver problem, because if I do get a new gpu, and the driver issue is still there, then im stuck in the same spot again. Thank you for the suggestion though. Any help is appreciated.
