Reverting updated bios to original

I have a friend who bought a PC from a local shop, It has a gigabyte MB and I3 processor.

He was defraging a 3t drive when it supposedly went into hibernate, He Ctrl-Alt-Del to get out it.


Now when it reboots we noticed the BIOS version is stock (not the version that was there at time of purchase) and the splash screen is default, Not what the shop put on it.

Is it even possible to go backwards with bios versions??

There is NO way he could have done this, He is luck he can Cut-n -Past !

so then it is safe to assume since there was NO user changing the BIOS version or swapping chips, BUT the version is clearly the default version and splash screen. Possible the mother board took a crapper?

If you're seeing the splash screen, it's posting. You may try updating the bios or if it's still under warranty, take it back.

It is posting BUT gets to starting windows and then shuts down..... Then just restarts and gets to starting windows... then shuts down... over and over again...

My question is How can it simply revert back to original BIOS??

Ok so i got the pc back. They had no luck , It cost $150 to hear they had not found the problem.



He is a description of whats happened,


1st they said the bios reverted back to factory..... after the did checking they made a mistake It has F11 on it now and the web site shows that as current.

BTW.. It a Gigabyte GA-H55m -usb 3 Motherboard. lga 1156 REV.2.0

They say they tested Power supply,Hard Drives,and the 2 memory chips ( totals 4 gig). They say there good.

All that is left is the MB and Processor. I am thinking..

I took all the settings for the bios and changed the back to factory "Fail-Safe" settings for the trouble shooting. Installed a 2nd Hard drive Sata and installed windows to it, the moment windows reboots, and to see the windows 7 logo it take like 15-20 seconds and pc shuts down for like 5 seconds and restarts.. over and over it will do this.


I am trying to figure out how to flash the bios (hoping that fixes it, But no floppy dish drive in this pc)

Please toss me any idea to help locate the problem. This is such a basic pc, I am very disappointing in Excellent computers here is Sheboygan... They built it but cant fix it OR tell me what is wrong.

PS the one guy said he had it working yesterday.... But it did not work this morning when they tried it.
