Logitech Mouse Wheel does not make page scroll up and down

Hello, I have a Logitech Trackball Mouse about 6-months old. The ball works fine with my cursor and tracks well. Both the left and right mouse buttons work fine too. However, I have no reception with the wheel on my mouse. The wheel will not make the page scoll up and down. I have reinstalled my Logitech CD several times and everything responds but the center wheel. I must physically place my cursor on the window edge and grab the arrows to make the page go up and down. I use Windows 7 OS. What am I missing here?

This is odd. It might be a setting in the Logitech software to make the wheel scroll windows when you turn it (scrolling is what you're doing when you're making things go up and down). So I mean, for some reason maybe you still have to set the scroll wheel to scroll.

Thank You. I have used every choice on the Trackman Wheel under 'Set Points'. Both Universal Scroll and Auto Scroll but it scrolls nowhere. I used Page Up and Page Down and it moves nowhere. As well as all the other choices in the drop down under Set Points. I have tried all of them and the wheel does not scroll. Just discovered..... I can make the page scroll with the arrow keys on my keyboard. But still no scroll with wheel.

Then the only thing I can think of is the mouse might be defective.

Try it without the setpoint software, see if it will work with just the drivers Microsoft downloads.

I changed this mouse out with a small travel mouse I have for my netbook. The wheel works just fine on this small mouse with my desktop Windows 7. I dug out an old Trackball mouse, same kind like what I have, and it wheels just fine too up and down the page. This old one is very long in the tooth and makes clinking noises but it works! The newer Trackball wheel just does not work. Both of these are wired Trackballs and I want to stay with this wired mouse as they do not moved around over the desk and no batteries. I haven't been able to find a wired Trackball mouse for years now. May have to buy wireless ones?? Will keep looking. This has solved my problem. Thank you for your prompt replies! Thank You!

I would contact Logitech and tell them that your new one is defective. Or, contact the store you bought it from and tell them that it's defective.

Has its scroll wheel ever worked?

No, I don't think it has ever worked. I knew I needed to get in and check the settings on the wheel but put it off due to time. I finally took time today to follow through with why it didn't work. BTW, through the months, trying to make it scroll, I would get a 'copy' icon on the screen. I did not know this icon(a diagonal arrow in up direction inside a box with rounded corners) until tonite. Somehow that wheel is crossed up with the copy icon?? It's one of the choices in the drop down menu in 'Set Points'. No matter what I chose and applied, the copy icon was locked in as 'the' choice.......?? I got a bad do juju on a Trackball. Can't remember where I bought it?? or I would take it back as defective. Thank you all so much!
