    Can not print anything except from notepad or test page


    I have a windows 7 machine that I can print a test page and print from notepad normally, but the machine will not print anything from other applications such as word or excel. I monitor the print que, and the test page shows up, but when I print something from word nothing comes up.

    I have deleted the printer, remove the print drivers, install a totally differenet printer and have the same issue. I have tried to print from differenet user profiles with the same issues. The printers work great on other computers.

    This is happening to both local printers and network printers. The printers are recognized and test prints works fine.

    Some things to try:

    Stop and restart the print spooler service

    Services - Start or Disable

    Scroll down to Print Spooler. It should be started and set to automatic. If it is, stop the service and restart it and try to print.

    Start> In search box type Devices and printers> Enter> Confirm your printer is set to default, and not the Microsoft XPS Document writer

    If not, right click the printer and choose Set as default printer

    Start> All programs> Administrative tools> Computer management> Device manager> Expand printers and look for yellow exclamation marks

    Start> In search box type troubleshooting> Enter> Under Hardware and Sound> Use a printer> When the troubleshooter opens, click on next and follow instructions
