Device Manager - Other Devices USB Controller driver not installed

I have a 64 GB USB flash drive that is not recognized on the USB 3.0 ports but is on the USB 2.0. I have 2 USB 3.0 external drives that work fine on those ports. When it is plugged in the light flashes but doesn't install the drivers.

Wondering if the thread title might be the problem?

    Thanks, Ken

I had just installed the usb 3.0 drivers but did not correct the driver problem for the "Other Device". Not sure what is required. I let windows do a search for it but doesn't find anything.

Sorry late reply Rocky - night duty. Mate I personally get the drivers from the manufacturer that is why I linked to the Asrock site as I find the Windows check unreliable.

Now I see there are two USB driver downloads of different brands. I don't know which one it would be but it should tell you in the Device Manager or try Speccy it will.
Speccy - Download download from piriform.

Thanks for the replies guys. In device manager under Universal Serial Bus controllers everything appears to be ok - shows 2 host intel host controllers 1E2D and 1E26 with the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller and Intel USB 3.0 Host Controller.

However under the heading Other It shows Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller and Video Controller with yellow explanation marks. I figured the Video Controller may be related to the onboard video however that is disabled in bios. But the usb controller I try to update driver and it says can't find driver software for the device.

I've just unistalled the two items and see if there is a problem.

Thanks ICit2lol, I did already update the drivers hoping to correct the two items listed under "Other".

Thanks Maxie for the heads up on the two utilities, I'm sure they will make a huge difference as I transfer a lot of large files. I have to go back and check out all the features of this motherboard and see if I'm missing out on something else that might be important. It was such a treat installing this board. Installed all the components, fired it up, upgraded the bios from within the bios, with a click of the mouse I selected a 4.2 GHz overclock saved, exited into windows and have never had to go back in.

    Thanks for all the help.

Yeah, it came back Maxie after an overnight shutdown. All drivers are installed correctly. Did a google search and other people have had the same thing happen. Shows up for no reason under "Other". I'm going to install a new power supply and double check all usb connections on the motherboard. Initially there were no unknown devices so don't know where it came from. Will also check with Asrock if I don't find anything.

As Max said mate a good idea but given my experience with those board manufacturers sometimes an exercise in tedium and frustratingly long waits. Hey but at least something has gone right eh?

I think the new PSU is a real good idea myself often overlooked as a fault, and I am guilty of it myself you always go looking for things that are more complicated than they sometimes are.:)
