    Laptop is not booting windows 7 from USB ?


    Hi guys i have a weired situation here
    My laptop i.e is acer travelmate 5742 is booting ubuntu or any other linux distro from usb but if I make live usb of windows 7 for installation it just stucks after logo screen and w8ng and w8ng for hours but nothing and if i plug out that same usb of live windows 7 and boot my other laptop from it , the other laptop just boots without any problem so it proves that usb and windows 7 on usb are perfectly fucntional and it also proves that i am booting usb on my laptop no. as i tried to boot linux distors and they work perfect but windows 7 is not ?

    anyone have any idea ?

    Mate just make a disk (DVD) I find it so much easier than fiddling with sticks. By the way did you get the right ISO for it??

    Are you trying to run Windows 7 from the usb or are you trying to install windows 7 from the usb ?

    Looking back at it it is really quite confusing as I took it that the OP was trying to install from a USB I didn't think you could boot from a USB or can you??

    I think there might be a bit of a language problem too - personally I don't like using numerals in words it leads to confusion itself.

    as i tried to boot linux distors and they work perfect but windows 7 is not ?
    Linux distros (at least, some of them) are distributed in a form that is designed to allow them to be run from their installation media. The Linux folks don't mind you walking around with a portable version of their FREE OS.

    MS Window is NOT designed to be run from installation media. MS does not want you walking around with a portable version of their OS.

    I wass just tryimg to install windows 7 from usb not just booying the installed System. And the that usb was working pn ther laptop witj windows 7 installer. At last i solved the problem by burning win7 image to dvd

    Well I did say I preferred the DVD method as I find booting USB's too darn fiddly:)
