Is there nowhere in the software/mouse settings to disable touchpad if you have a mouse connected?
No. Believe me, I've tried. The mouse settings say that you can disable the TP there but, as soon as you reboot, the *&^%$#@! POS is back!

Is there any software that the mouse uses that you may have disabled on startup? I'm reaching, but I have to ask because I've seen it before. Sometimes if you disable the software the mouse uses, it will still work, but some functionality, such as the computer recognizing there is a mouse plugged up on startup might not work.

Then I am beyond useless lol......that's all the bright ideas I had and was pretty certain you had already checked for that. I'll keep looking around for a solution.

I don't like the gawd awful things either! Maybe you've been there, in Device Manager there should be a listing for the touchpad, ex. Synaptics. Can you/did you disable it from there? I did this with my old Dell, circa 2007, and it stayed off.
